In 2004, our Deacons received training and implemented a new, exciting method of ministering to the needs of the Church and Community using the Ministry Team concept. In June, 2006, we re-organized our 11 Teams into 5 Purpose Driven Teams (Discipleship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Ministry, Worship) and an Administrative Team. Deacons and non-deacon helpers can volunteer to serve on a Team which corresponds to their individual gifts, talents and interests. An elderly, retired Deacon may have the time and be very gifted in making hospital visits during the day while a younger Deacon may have difficulty getting off work or is uncomfortable making these types of visits. Deacons are no longer asked to serve a certain number of years. All ordained Deacons can serve on a Team. If a Deacon has been inactive for several years, he can become active and begin ministering with a Team at any time. Each Team has a Deacon Team Leader and one or more members. Teams are also open to non-deacons, both male and female. The Admin Team will meet monthly or as needed. A meeting and fellowship meal will be held quarterly for all Team members. If you have an interest in serving on one of our 5 Ministry Teams, please contact the Chairman of the Deacons, Andy Blake. |
