After several years of study, research and prayer, the Church voted in April, 2006 to adopt and implement Phase 1 of the Master Plan as designed by Black Design Architecture at an estimated cost of $1.4 million dollars. They also recommended, in cooperation with the Finance Committee, that we employ Master Resources for a capital stewardship program. Phase 1 will be a new two story Preschool/Children’s Building connecting to the back of the Sanctuary. |

Most Recent Developments - (3/2/08) On Sunday night, 6:00pm, we will have a Church Chat sponsored by the Building and Finance Committees to report on the progress of the new building. (1/08) The final bids have been submitted to the Church and are being reviewed by the Building and Finance Committees. (12/07) Final architectural drawings have been completed and given to the Church. Sub-contractor bids are being negotiated and are due by 1/3/08. Representatives from the Building Committee and Building and Grounds Committee met with the Interior Designer and picked out flooring, wall and countertop colors. (9/07) Work was completed to grade down the western side parking area and cover with a course base gravel. The dirt from the grading was used to make additional parking on the northern side of the parking area. Plans are being made to stripe the parking area and do some landscaping. A revised site plan was drawn to include a Children' Playground area that could be accessed without walking across any parking lanes. (8/07) The survey, elevations, site plan and architectural drawings have been completed. It was necessary to make some modifications to the original drawings which is not unusual. The new plan and building location requires a Jefferson County Zoning Variance which is in progress. (5/07) The Building Committee selected JohnsonKreis Construction to build our new building. They have done extensive work with churches including several in our Association. Alabama Engineering has also been selected and has begun work on the civil engineering designs and drawings which include things like surveys, topo/elevation drawings, drainage, septic system re-location, etc. Although we don't see bulldozers clearing land yet, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes preparation work continuing to happen. |
